This year, besides our Bollywood beauties -- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut -- another popular face from the Indian subcontinent will be seen making an appearance at the red carpet at the 72nd edition of the presitigious Cannes Film Festival that will be held between May 14 and May 25.

We are talking about television actor Hina Khan, who rose to fame with daily soap 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'. Her debut film 'Lines' based on the Kargil war is set to premiere at Cannes on May 17.

Earlier while speaking about her film 'Lines', Hina had told Bombay Times in an interview, “It has a simple, heartwarming and hard-hitting story. It aims to communicate that most of us are fighting someone else’s battle without any reason, while our own families are left to suffer the consequences. Nazia’s (her character) life is every girl’s story.”

Hina has even been invited to be a part of a panel organised by the India Pavilion. She will be joining the likes of Kangana Ranaut, Sonam Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Prasoon Joshi, who will also be speaking at the festival on May 17. According to a source, she will wrap up shooting for 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' on Sunday and jet off to Cannes on the same day.

"It's a huge honour. I have been following the Cannes Film Festival as a fan for years. Not only because of the red carpet, but more so because Cannes is the ground for some of the most path-breaking international content," Hina said in a statement.

"Makers from across the world come and present their work and you have some of the best of creative minds meeting all in one place. I am grateful to have the opportunity to not only be present amongst the best of creative minds, but also to be sharing my thoughts on cinema, my upcoming film and the journey so far, with them," she added.
