Fan favourite Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones says that it is time for the HBO fantasy drama's curtain call.

While promoting his movie I Think We’re Alone Now at Sundance Film Festival, Dinklage told media that 'it's time.' "Storywise, not just for all our lives. It’s the perfect time to end it. Sometimes shows stay on a little too long, the jumping-the-shark thing," Variety quoted Dinklage.

Just like his co-star Maisie Williams, Dinklage too thinks it will be bittersweet to bid goodbye to a character that stayed with him for eight long seasons of Game of Thrones.

"It’s always the sad part of our business, because you get pockets of great people for short amounts of time and then you have to move on and it’s always heartbreaking. Especially when you’ve spent more than a couple months with people,” said Dinklage.

Shooting for the final season of the show is underway. Dinklage said that because it's the last season, the showrunners and the cast are taking their time with it. He added that they are halfway done with the final season of the show based on George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire.

HBO recently announced that the last season will not air until 2019.
