The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) has instructed all the BCCI state associations to submit a full-list of its members latest by August 8.

The Vinod Rai-led COA also made it mandatory for the states to update the same on their respective websites, along with the addresses of members and office-bearers.

And those who fail to follow the instructions, the same would be reported to the Apex court as part of COA's next status report before the next hearing scheduled for August 14.

Though it seems just a routine instruction, this could well put many state associations in a soup. It is understood that COA have been flooded with complaints by many former players and officials fighting against the present associations that "there is no way to know who have been ruling the state cricket units despite all their efforts over the years".

Most of these are related to Saurashtra, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab Cricket Associations.

Take the example of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA). Before former BCCI president Anurag Thakur took over the reins of the state body in 2000, HPCA had only 24 full members representing the 12 districts. Soon after, in an apparent attempt to hold on to the power for the years to come, Thakur added 25 more members with full voting rights — mostly his near and dear ones — to make it his family fiefdom.

It is understood even during his peak of confrontation against the ruling government led by chief minister Virbhadra Singh, no body could actually zero in on the full details of the HPCA members.

This despite the fact that BCCI had made it mandatory for all the state units to put up all the updates and a list of office-bearers on their respective sites in 2016. But barring a few associations none of them have a website that is updated on a frequent basis.
