Toulouse held by Lille; miss out on top spot

Toulouse fell to third place in the standings on 14 points, two behind St Etienne, who claimed a 1-0 win at arch-rivals Olympique Lyon on Saturday.

Toulouse missed the chance to take top spot in Ligue 1 after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Lille on Sunday.             

Ivory Coast striker Gervinho put the visitors ahead in the 27th minute, coolly slotting home after collecting a David Rozenhal through ball.  

Toulouse levelled 15 minutes from time as Antoine Devaux outpaced France defender Adil Rami to beat Mickael Landreau from close range.

Lille, who are unbeaten in their opening seven league outings, lie sixth on 11 points.                                           

Promoted Brest moved up to seventh, level on points with Lille, after a Nolan Roux second-half goal earned them a 1-0 home win against Valenciennes.                                           

Later on Sunday (1900GMT), strugglers Racing Lens take on Paris St Germain.
