Don't expect Thierry Henry to play like his olden days: Arsene Wenger

Boss Arsene Wenger has warned not to expect Thierry Henry to play like his olden days, as the former Arsenal striker should complete a two-month loan to return to his old club from New York Red Bulls next week.

Henry, 34, is likely to get his first outing against Leeds in the FA Cup on Monday week.

Wenger said: "Nobody expects him to be what he was 10 years ago - we just want him to help out. I think it is credit to him to want to help a club that has given him so much. Therefore I feel there is no pressure to be the player he was before.

"You can never take away from people what they have done, that will remain for ever. The same with Thierry. It's just that we need a short-term solution. You do not find players of this quality who are available for two months."

Henry, who has been training with his former club, left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007, The Sun reports.

Arsenal has agreed an initial six-week loan deal, starting on January 1.

But they have a clause, which means Henry, 34, could stay for a further two weeks - until February 26 when Arsenal face Spurs before he heads back to the States.
