Man-of-the-match Ajinkya Rahane and left-handed one down batsman Ravikant Shukla added 128 runs for the second wicket as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) scored a massive six-wicket victory over Tata Sports Club in a Group ‘B’ match of the BCCI Corporate Trophy cricket tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing a challenging 280 of Tata Sports Club, IOC reached 282 for four in 48.2 overs in a high scoring match. Rahane and IOC skipper Wasim Jaffer added 94 runs for the first wicket off 79 balls to set the ball rolling in their team’s favour.

Jaffer scored a cameo 48 off 37 balls with five fours and two sixes as IOC started the chase on a positive note on a hot and humid day following days of overcast skies and rain in Chennai. Rahane scored 105 runs in 117 balls with the help of 9 fours, while Ravikant Shukla made 84 off 91 balls with 9 nine fours.

Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten on 32 from 29 balls with five fours.

Electing to bat on winning the toss, Tata recovered from the loss of an early wicket through the 187-run third wicket partnership between Ishank Jaggi (110 not out, 130 balls, 4x4s, 2x6s) and Mandeep Singh (91, 100 balls, 6x4s, 2x6s). Nishit Shetty scored a quick fire 33 not out from 21 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation is the third team in the fray from this group.
