In the Twenty20 era where teams are scoring easily in excess of seven an over, South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir's economy rate of 6.72 is actually not bad. Plus, he gets his team wickets, making a dangerous bowler in this format.

Take chances against Tahir at your own peril. Eighteen other bowlers in international cricket have a better economy rate than Tahir, and of them only three – West Indians Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine and retired New Zealander Daniel Vettori – have an economy rate of sub-6.

"I am not sure about that. I am pleased with what I have achieved," Tahir said here on Monday when asked if 6.72 is good or bad.

In 23 T20Is, the 36-year-old Tahir has taken 37 wickets, fourth highest for his country.

Always charged up on the field, almost as if snatching the ball from his skipper and wanting to bowl at all situations, Tahir does not mind when batsmen go after the leather. "It's a nice thing with guys charging in and trying to attack you. I can use the variations, I am quite lucky with that. For me, you need to be solid with your plans."

Tahir seems to bring his best out in an ICC world event. He picked up 12 wickets in his first and only previous World T20 while in the Cricket World Cup last year in Australia-New Zealand, he took 15.

Does he prepare any differently for the world events? "It's absolute honour to play for your country in world events. It gives an extra boost playing for the country. Every game I play is special. I get energy from there and that's how I have been. It is a little bit extra special. That said, it's just another game for my country where I am looking forward to playing and if I get the opportunity, play well and give my 200 per cent."

Tahir has been an integral part of South Africa's bowling line-up in all the formats in recent times. The last year-end tour of India will help him in the World T20.

"It was a big help for us. We played here, so we know the conditions a little bit better. The tour went well and we won (2-0 in T20s), so that's the confidence we will bring into the World T20. We have been playing good T20 cricket since last year."
