Gurunath Meiyappan may just have found himself in hot water once again, as recent media reports reveal that the accused was involved in numerous telephonic conversations with bookie Vikram Aggarwal and Vindoo Dara Singh, the two other men involved in the ongoing spot fixing controversy.

Call data records reveal that the three men, who are in the midst of the spot fixing saga, had made 200 calls amongst themselves, in a space of just three days. It is also reported that Meiyappan had produced fake documents to buy mobile sim cards, for his betting activities. The Forensic Science Laboratory in Mumbai has identified a recent telephonic conversation between Meiyappan and Dara Singh, and has confirmed that the respective voices match the description.

Meiyappan, incidentally was charged on spot fixing charges in 2013, and had even spent time behind bars, after investigations. Reports also suggest the involvement of other big bookies in the ongoing saga. It all started when Rajasthan Royals' players, S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested in Mumbai, for their involvement in the incident.

The Supreme Court had entrusted the Justice Mukul Mudgal panel in October 2013, to carry out proceedings against the concerned people and investigate into the matter. The panel had submitted their report in February 2014, which stated that cricketers, board officials, cops, lawyers and even journalists had provided evidence, as per the BCCI's directions.

The three-member panel is led by Justice Mudgal, a retired Punjab and Haryana High Court judge, and also has Additional Solicitor General L Nageswara Rao and senior advocate Nilay Dutta. The court had asked the committee to continue its investigation of the persons named in the sealed envelope and the committee was also given greater powers to effectively conduct its probe. The Mudgal committee will submit its final report to the apex court at the end of October, and the hearing will start on November 10.
