Jos Buttler likes to take on the attack. A limited-overs specialist, the Somerset batsman's aggressive batting style resulting in non-performance in whites cost him a place in England's Test team last year.

Before the third Test in Mohali, his last Test was against Pakistan in Dubai in 2015. He was dropped after that only to make a comeback a year later.

His selection for Bangladesh's Test tour was deemed as a wild card entry by the critics though he did not play a game there.

On Day Two of the fourth Test at the Wankhede, Buttler breathed easy. He slammed a 137-ball 76 that took England to a competitive 400 against India.

It was a calculated knock but not a conservative one. He did not curb his attacking instincts and went for shots when he wanted to. The reverse sweep off Ravindra Jadeja and stepping out to Ravichandran Ashwin for a mighty six are the proofs enough while batting with the tail.

"Personally, it is very pleasing and satisfying to get those runs. I enjoyed the time in the middle and got a good score to have on the board," a relieved Buttler said after the day's play.

"It was probably the best thing to have not played cricket and think about improving the game during the summer. You play so much cricket that you don't get time to think how to get the best out of myself. Last year, I learnt the most and feeling confident after the faith showed by the coaches and selectors that I can do it and I have worked hard," he said.

Buttler plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. And he said playing at the Wankhede helped him. "I practiced and played here. I have experienced the noise and chaos here before. You learn to focus on batting and not get distracted. Familiarity is good and probably helped."

The 26-year-old right-hander, who has six half-centuries in 17 games now, wants to enjoy the game and not think about the future. "I did not expect to play, but remained positive learning from the top players on how to have the belief and the mentality. I was confident to do well whenever I got the opportunity," he added.
