Tottenham Hotspur football team manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that it would be easier to win games with the spirit and mentality his side displayed against Everton to win 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado scored his first Premier League goal of the season with the winner to guide his side to victory against Everton. The hosts had fallen behind early on to a brilliant striker from winger Kevin Mirallas in the 15th minute.
But Tottenham's attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen equalised six minutes later before Spanish striker Soldado grabbed what turned out to be the deciding goal, The BBC reported.
Everton, who had a late penalty claim for handball ignored, drop into 10th place while Tottenham go seventh.
Defeat for Roberto Martinez's side ended an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions, while counterpart Pochettino finished a satisfying seven days that reaped three victories across domestic and European competition.
The ball had appeared to brush the hand of Federico Fazio in the area after Leighton Baines had swung in a free-kick, but the referee waved away Everton's claims.
The referee also ignored Tottenham's own shout for a spot-kick when Kane went to ground deep into stoppage time, leaving the scoreline to remain for a result that means Pochettino's side have won all but one of their last seven outings.
Pochettino said that their mentality and their spirit were fantastic, adding that this is what they want, and they need to keep this feeling.
He admitted that it is impossible always to win but with the spirit and mentality they displayed today, it would be easier to win games.
Pochettino also said that Everton have a very good squad and for Tottenham it is a little bit more than three points, adding that it is important to grow and build on the victory.
Meanwhile, Everton manager Martinez said that he would never blame a decision like that, not being awarded a late penalty, for not getting a result, it happens, it's part of the game. But he added that he is disappointed because the referee is really good and when the ball contacted the arm he wasn't in an obstructed view. He said that he believes it should have been spotted.
However, Martinez also said that he would never blame a third party for his side not getting a result, adding that they should be good enough to come to White Hart Lane and get a result.
