32 year-old divorcee jailed for seducing teenager

A 32 year-old Singaporean divorcee was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for allegedly seducing a 13 year-old boy into a physical relationship here.

The accused, mother of a 14 month-old baby from her previous marriage, was earlier employed as a canteen stall assistant at the school which the minor attended.

She managed to seduce the boy by swapping mobile text messages with him, assistant public prosecutor, Kalidass Murugaiyan was quoted by the Strait Times.

The two developed a relationship and started to have sex at her home in May last year, it said.

The woman currently unemployed, was caught by her sister who found the boy hiding in a wardrobe.

Police were called to the flat and the boy, whose identity is being withheld as he is a minor, confessed he was in a relationship with the woman, the report added.

It is a crime in Singapore for an adult to have sex with anyone below the age of 16 years.
