VJ Mia gets booked!

Here’s the official announcement — VJ Mia will be tying the knot with her fiancé Emiliano Collazo in Goa very soon. The two met through common friends last year and have been inseparable ever since.

For Vancouver-born Mia, life’s been a series of accidents by design — she was happy enough modelling in Japan, Singapore and Bangkok before she landed up in Mumbai a couple of years ago for a lark.

Things took off after she sizzled national eyeballs with her 2007 Kingfisher calendar campaign and was picked up by MTV soon after. Meeting Emiliano, she feels, was another ‘destined’ accident.

“I’d thought of leaving India several times, but somehow I just couldn’t,” she smiles. “Now I know why!”

Holland-based Emiliano says his work as a consultant in the entertainment industry takes him all over the world, from Europe, Mexico and Argentina to Mumbai. “I was intensely attracted to Mia from the first time I met her but we only really got into a relationship in September last year. It was on a trip to Goa that I proposed to her, and she immediately said yes.”

There was a quick dash to Holland to meet Emiliano’s parents and now the two lovebirds are busy working out the details of the nuptials.

“There’s a lot of paper work involved because we are both foreigners,” points out Emiliano. But Mia has her heart set on getting married in Goa. “I’ve always wished for a beach wedding. This will be just perfect,” she beams.    

Both their families are equally thrilled with the news, also because of another reason — Mia is pregnant. “My mother is over the moon. It’ll be her first grandchild. My whole family is preparing to come down for the wedding.”
