'ICL is a better platform than Ranji Trophy'

HYDERABAD: He is yet to play his first match for the Indian Cricket League, but medium pacer Kuunal Lal says for youngsters the Twenty20 League is a much better platform to learn than first class competitions like Ranji Trophy.
    
Kuunal, son of former India cricketer Madan Lal, said he does not regret leaving his Delhi Ranji team.
    
"I have decided to opt for the ICL over the Ranji Trophy as a professional cricketer and I don't regret the decision. The kind of opportunities I am getting here are really good," Kuunal, who will play for 'Ahmedabad Rockets', said.
    
"I think, the ICL is a great opportunity for me and a better stage to perform than the Ranji Trophy, where everybody doesn't get enough chance to prove oneself.
    
"There are a lot of things to learn for the youngsters when they share the dressing room with former international cricketers -- may it be professionalism, mental toughness or physical fitness," the 24-year-old cricketer added.
    
The pacer, who draws inspiration from former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram, is elated after sharing the dressing room with eminent international cricketers like Australia's Damien Martyn, Jason Gillespie and Zimbabwe's Heath Streak.
    
The left-arm bowler was disappointed with the way he was dropped from the Delhi Ranji side.
