NEW DELHI: Delhi Police is training shopkeepers to identify unclaimed objects at the marketplace to avoid any more blasts. The police are training traders at the M-block market in Greater Kailash to look out for bombs and suspicious movement of people visiting the market.

They have even asked shopkeepers to post a helper to just ensure that nobody leaves an unclaimed bag anywhere around the shop.

Fearing more attacks during Id and Durga Puja, traders at Ghaffar market, one of the places where bombs were planted on September 13, are being trained to identify bombs.

The police had provided similar training to shopkeepers in Sarojini Market and Paharganj areas after the multiple blasts in 2005, when over 60 people were killed and hundreds injured.

“This time, bombs were planted in smaller markets as well so we are not taking any chances. We have asked the SHOs of local police stations to carry out this training in all markets of their areas,” said a senior police official.
