Interrogations have revealed that Mohammed Sadiq Sheikh, who was arrested by crime branch from Cheetah camp, operated through at least 35 email IDs to keep in touch with his associates.

Sadiq, a key member of Indian Mujahideen (IM), planned the group’s attacks along with Atif, one of the two killed in the New Delhi encounter on September 19, said police.

Two computers seized from Sadiq - one from his Andheri office and the other from his residence - have been sent for forensic tests. Police said that he used several of these email IDs to keep in touch with other IM members and update them about the groups activities. “He may have also used one of those to communicate with Riyaz Bhatkal, the founder of IM. We are interrogating him to get further details,” said a crime branch officer.

Sadiq and Atif, along with one Roshan Khan, who is absconding, formed the thinktank of IM. Police said that Sadiq received training from Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami militants in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
