BEIJING: The profits accruing from the 2010 Hockey World Cup to be hosted in New Delhi will be shared by organisers Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and International Hockey Federation (FIH).

However, the share of the FIH will be ploughed back into the development of the game in India, according to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by IOA president Suresh Kalmadi and FIH chief Els van Breda Viresman here on Friday.

Kalmadi and Viresman will be the joint chairmen of the Organising Committee and they will soon be setting up a managing committee to take care of the marketing of the event in India.

"We are looking into the legality of setting up such a committee which will be based in India and look after the marketing of Hockey World Cup 2010," the FIH president said.

Kalmadi said the World Cup, to be held in March 2010, would help the Commonwealth Games Organising committee a chance to assess the facilities before the event in October.

"We will have lot of test events before the Commonwealth Games. Hockey World Cup would be one of them. Our boys have really done well in the recent months and hockey is moving in the right direction," he said.

Kalmadi said IOA is in touch with various hockey federation heads for possible tie-ups, exposure trips and exchange programmes to improve the game in India.
