Prashant Agarwal can’t contain his happiness. This 17-year-old resident of a small town in Hingoli, in the Marathwada region, topped the Maharashtra engineering Common Entrance Test (CET) by scoring full marks. The results, which were declared on Saturday, were a wonderful surprise for Agarwal, who had expected to do well but perhaps not so well.
“Now I have a good chance of getting into a college of my choice. I plan to apply to the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in Matunga, even though I have never been to Mumbai, and the College of Engineering in Pune,” says an excited Prashant. The youngster, who had scored 91 per cent in his Class XII exams, scored 99 out of 100 in Maths in his HSC. “I was disappointed that I could not score full marks. But I’m happy I got a perfect score in maths in the CET,” he says. Not accustomed to so much attention, Prashant is awestruck by his new- found fame. “A local MLA visited me and my college, and felicitated me,” he adds.
Prashant who likes to read books written by Swami Vivekananda, aspires to a Computer Science Engineering degree and an MTech degree subsequently.
