'Godman' and 'godwoman' granted bail

After being behind bars for over 20 days, a self-styled godman and godwoman were on Thursday granted bail by two courts in Kerala.

KOCHI: After being behind bars for over 20 days, a self-styled godman and godwoman were on Thursday granted bail by two courts in Kerala.
  
'Swami' Himaval Maheswara Bhadrananda, who was arrested for attempting to shoot himself at a police station on May 17, was today granted conditional bail, while in another case 'godwoman' Prasanna from Ezhukon was given bail by the Kerala High Court.
   
The Principal Sessions court judge, Ernakulam, D Papachan, granted Bhadrananda bail after he furnished the bail amount of rs one lakh and two sureties for the like amount.
   
He has been asked to appear before investigating officers every day and not to shift residence without the court's permission.
   
Bhadrananda had had been brought to the Aluva police station with his licensed pistol on May 17, after he threatened to commit suicide following adverse media reports against him. He had earlier stormed into the office of a Malayalam daily' and threatned its journalists after it carried a series of articles against him. Three cases-- attempt to murder, attempt to commit suicide and misusing a licensed weapon had been filed against him.
   
Matha Prasanan from Kollam had allegedly cheated many persons by promising them jobs and had been arrested on May 21
   
She was granted bail by Justice K Hema of the Kerala High Court after furnishing a bail bond of Rs one lakh and two sureties for like amount. Prasanan has been asked not leave Ezhukon.
