NEW DELHI: In the second such incident within a week, a foreign passenger was killed and three others injured when a bus hit them at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.

The accident took place late on Saturday night when a bus carrying the crew members of an international flight hit the passengers after the driver lost control over the vehicle, airport sources said.

The passengers had just arrived at the Terminal 2 of the IGI on a inter-terminal transfer coach and were taking out their luggage from the boot of bus when another bus carrying crew members hit them from behind, they said.

The Ukrainian passenger Mikhialov died while three others were taken to the Spinal Injury hospital. The condition of one of them was stated to be serious, airport sources said.

The driver of the bus has been arrested, police said.

This is second death at the airport within a week. Last Sunday, a member of the ground handling staff of Jet Airways died after being hit by a DIAL ambulance.

On March 27, a 30-year-old labourer was crushed to death by a bulldozer and in October last year, a 27-year-old employee of Air Deccan -- Sanskriti Sinha -- was found dead between the airport's taxiway and the ramp after allegedly being hit by a vehicle.

Several measures have been taken to avoid such accidents like limiting the speed of vehicles to 15 kms and training drivers to drive carefully.
