Sonal Chauhan, the lead actor of the film, Jannat, was allegedly hit by her “good friend” Sahil Zaroo at the Santa Cruz terminal of the Mumbai airport on Tuesday evening. The incident happened when Chauhan went to collect her boarding pass for her Jet Airways flight to Hyderabad.

On Tuesday, around 6.30pm, Chauhan came to terminal 1B of the Santa Cruz airport along with Zaroo, a carpet dealer whose named had cropped up in the Rahul Mahajan drugs case.

Chauhan had a Jet Airways flight to Hyderabad at 7pm and was collecting her boarding pass, a senior cop from the Santa cruz airport police station said. While collecting her pass from the airline’s counter, Chauhan and Zaroo had some argument and Zaroo started shouting at her. He started yelling at her loudly and even abused her, the cop said.  He snatched the mobile phone from her hand and threw it on the ground, the cop said.  Later, he slapped her and walked out of the terminal, the official said.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guards quickly ran and caught Zaroo, who had reached the parking lot.  Both Chauhan and Zaroo were taken to the airport police station.  Surprisingly, Chauhan registered a complaint in the name of Sonal Raghuraj Singh, 21. In her complaint, she said that she was a student.

While recording the statement, Chauhan told the police that she came to know Zaroo while looking for a house in Mumbai after she shifted base from Delhi. The two had been friends in Delhi. But Chauhan began avoiding him when he started sending her lewd SMSes and making calls. Till not long ago, Chauhan and Zaroo were more than just friends earlier, and this was a well-known fact.

Zaroo’s name had cropped up in the Rahul Mahajan drug case. He is alleged to have supplied morphine, cocaine and heroin to Rahul Mahajan, the son of the late Pramod Mahajan, and Bibek Moitra, who was a personal secretary of the BJP leader. Moitra had died after consuming a cocktail of the drugs in New Delhi on June 2, 2006, and Rahul had to be admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Delhi in a critical condition.
