JAMMU: At least 30,000 jobs would be created by utilising Rs 94 crore for upgrading Khadi Village Industries (KVI) infrastructure in the next three years, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Industries and Commerce Nawang Rigzin Jora has said.
    
Chairing the standing finance committee meeting of KVI here on Friday, Jora asked the entrepreneurs to adopt latest technology.
    
The committee reviewed the work in the KVI sector and cleared 158 projects by providing subsidy of more than Rs 77.56 lakh.
    
The projects would provide jobs to 1,798 persons in the state, he said.

Jora asked entrepreneurs to adopt latest technology for boosting production and ensuring high quality of products to compete successfully in the global market.
    
He said that modernisation, expansion and upgrading of of units is the key to success, a release said.
    
The meeting was told that as many as 3,189 micro and small industrial units would be set up with bank loan of Rs 26.95 crore by April next year. The KVI Board has provided margin money of Rs 11.26 crore creating employment opportunities for 29,983 persons.
   
Secretary KVI Board R C Sharma told the meeting that entrepreneur development programme (EDP) training is being provided to the persons setting up new industrial units, the release added.
    
The meeting also discussed the presentation made before Asian Development Bank in Mumbai.
