3500 devotees visit Pak for Guru Nanak's birthday

A group of nearly 3500 Sikh devotees went to Pakistan through the Samjhauta Express train to observe the birth anniversary of first Sikh Guru, Nanak Dev.

AMRITSAR: A group of nearly 3500 Sikh devotees on Wednesday went to Pakistan through the Samjhauta Express train to observe the birth anniversary of founder of Sikhism and first Sikh Guru, Nanak Dev.
 
Every year a group of Sikh devotees travel to Pakistan from India in connection with Guru Nanak's birth anniversary. Even Sikhs from US, England, Canada and other countries assemble in Pakistan to observe the Guru's birthday.
 
Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had this time arranged the visa from Pakistan High Commission at New Delhi for more than 3500 Sikh devotees to visit at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan where Guru Nanak was born in 1469.
  
During their week-long stay in Pakistan Sikh devotees would visit different Sikh shrines there and would assemble at Gurdwara Nanakana Sahib on November 24 to observe the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The devotees are scheduled to return on November 30 after paying obeisance at more than one dozen historic Sikh shrines in Pakistan.
