RANCHI: A special CBI court here on Tuesday directed the prosecution to ensure personal appearance of 14 persons, including Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra on November 23, making them accused in a fresh fodder scam case.

The court directed the prosecution to issue notices to all the 14 accused in the RC/39a/96 case relating to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 1.47 crore from Dumka treasury in 1990s.

The court took suo motu cognisance to make the 14 persons accused in the case after one Mahendra Prasad, who has already pleaded guilty in this case, gave a vivid account before the bench on the scam on Tuesday.

Lalu is already facing charges in five other cases out of a total of 53 cases filed in the Rs 950 crore fodder scam, unearthed in the 1990s.

Pulling up the prosecution for its inability to bring out the facts, the CBI court also directed initiation of a probe into the Accountant General's alleged failure to enter some bills in its 1991-92 and 1995-96 reports.
