Kasuri is richest minister in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri is the richest cabinet member in Pakistan with assets worth nearly Rs 1 billion.

The assets of other ministers seem paltry as none of them even cross the Rs 350 million mark, according to their statements of assets and liabilities filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The assets of Kasuri and his wife include property in Lahore worth Rs 583 million and other properties worth over Rs 30 million. His investment in various businesses and shares is worth Rs 424 million.

Industries and Special Initiatives Minister Jehangir Tareen owns assets of Rs 345 million but has liabilities of Rs 109 million. His liabilities include three bank loans, his declaration said.

Sports Minister Mian Shamim Haider has assets worth Rs 162 million. His property in Lahore alone is worth over Rs 52 million. Haider's shares and investments are worth over Rs 10 million. His wife owns property worth Rs 47 million.

Women Development Minister Sumera Malik and her spouse own assets of Rs 145 million. She has shares in Bank Al-Falah (Rs 7 million), cash in hand and bank balance of Rs 16.9 million as well as inherited agricultural land in Mianwali district worth Rs 39 million. She also has a plot in Islamabad worth Rs 7 million gifted by her mother.

Political Affairs Minister Amir Muqam owns assets worth Rs 118 million, his statement said.
