India lose to Chinese Taipei to get silver

DOHA: India got the silver in women's team tennis competition of the Asian Games after losing to Chinese Taipei in the final.

India started their campaign for the top honour on a disappointing note with Shikha Uberoi going down 2-6 5-7 to Hsieh Su Wei in the opening singles encounter late on Friday.

However, Sania Mirza kept the Indian hopes alive with a clinical 6-2 6-2 victory over Chan Yung Jan.

In the deciding doubles clash, Sania and Shikha lost to CJ Chuang and Su Wei 6-7 (2), 1-6 to settle for the second place.
