Bollywood icon Amitbah Bachchan, his son Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai are likely to perform a puja at a temple here in the early hours of Monday, fuelling speculation about a marriage between the younger Bachchan and the actress.

VARANASI: Bollywood icon Amitbah Bachchan, his son Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai arrived here on Sunday night and are likely to perform a puja at a temple here early on Monday, heightening speculation about a marriage between the younger Bachchan and the actress.
The Bachchans, Aishwarya and Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh flew into the temple town by a chartered flight.
Seven suites have been booked for the stay of the star guests in Hotel Taj Ganges.
Sources here said no wedding was planned during the puja that is to be performed at the Sankatmochan temple.
There has been considerable speculation in the media about a marriage between Abhishek and Aishwarya but neither family has confirmed it.
Amitabh had said in London on November 9 this year that he wanted Abhishek to settle with a "good girl" of his choice.
On the prospect of Abhishek marrying Aishwarya, the older Bachchan had quipped: "I have also heard about it. You should ask the people who spread the rumour".
Abhishek and Aishwarya have starred together in Hindi films like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Na Kaho, recently-released Umrao Jaan and soon-to-be screened Dhoom II as also Mani Ratnam's forthcoming Guru.
Beside the immediately Bachchan family members, Amitabh's brother Ajitabh and his daughter Namrata also arrived by the chartered plane.
Amitabh's actress-wife Jaya Bachchan is camping in Varanasi connection with the shoot of director Pradeep Sarkar's next movie Choodiyan starring among others Rani Mukherjee.
Amid tight security, the star guests entered the hotel through the rear, giving a slip to the media and a surge of onlookers assembled at the lobby and outside.
A posse of policemen and intelligence officials were deployed in and around the hotel.
Astrologer Chandramouli Upadhyaya met the Bachchan family at the hotel for more than half an hour.
Later, he told reporters that there was no discussion on Abhishek's marriage and the Bachchans have come here to offer prayers at the Kashi Viswanath temple and the Sankatmochan temple to overcome a problem relating to the horoscope of Aishwarya.
