MUMBAI: Abdul Gani Turk, the explosive ‘planter’ of the ‘93 blasts’ deadliest explosion at Century Bazaar, in which 113 persons were killed and 229 injured, is likely to be the next to face his fate in the TADA court.

Turk, accused number 11, had driven and parked an RDX-laden Commander Jeep opposite an Udipi restaurant at the crowded cloth market, Century Bazaar, at Worli. The explosives went off at 2:45 pm damaging property worth over Rs2.41 crore. On Tuesday, Judge PD Kode is likely to record the statements of Asgar Mukadam and Shahnawaz Qureshi, convicted on Monday for planting explosives at Plaza cinema at Dadar, in which 10 persons were killed. He will also hear arguments on the quantum of sentence for the two.

The judge has also asked the lawyers to point out whether charges need to be framed under each of the acts for the same offence. For instance, the accused are charged for conspiracy under TADA as well as the IPC. Judge Kode is likely to take up the verdicts of all the ‘planters’ in succession.
