INDORE: A government medical college has refused to accept for patholigical tests the heart of Prof HS Sabharwal, who died during violence in college union polls in Ujjain on August 26, saying legal norms were not followed by police.
The Mahatma Gandhi Medical College's pathology department told the police to follow all legal guidelines before bringing it back for examination.
"Since the article was not properly sealed in a container and the labels and papers accompanying it were incomplete, we refused to accept it and directed the officials to follow legal guidelines before bringing the article back for examination," hospital sources said on Wednesday.
The article was brought by Ujjain police on Tuesday for examination at the department, they said.
The pathological report will play a crucial role in ascertaining whether the professor died of a heart attack or was beaten to death by students.
