George Fernandes admitted to hospital

Former defence minister George Fernandes was admitted to the private Wockhardt Health Care Hospital here on Tuesday morning after he complained of breathlessness and discomfort in the chest.

BANGALORE: Former defence minister George Fernandes was admitted to the private Wockhardt Health Care Hospital here on Tuesday morning after he complained of breathlessness and discomfort in the chest.

Hospital sources said he would be kept under observation at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for 24 hours.

Intervention Cardiologist Ranganath Naik is monitoring his treatment.

They said the 76-year-old veteran trade unionist was brought to the hospital at 11.30 am.

His brother and former Mayor Michael Fernandes visited him at the hospital.
