Principal rapes student, arrested

PATNA: The principal of a public school here and one of his friends have been arrested on the charge of raping a student, senior police superintendent Kundan Krishnan said on Thursday.

Krishnan said that the class X student was allegedly raped by the principal of Central Public High School, Maniraj Singh, last Thursday but the girl's parents kept the incident
a secret.

"It was only yesterday that the girl's father lodged an FIR with the Patrakarnagar police station here after which the principal and his friend Ajay were arrested," he said.

The victim was taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital for a medical examination. The girl's mother is also a teacher in the same school.

The girl claims that she was lured by the principal to a secluded room in the school where she was allegedly raped by him while his friend stood guard outside.
