MUMBAI: Maharashtra government on Thursday said its police had information about the terrorist plan to attack RSS headquarters more than seven months ago and announced Rs ten lakh reward for Nagpur police who foiled the strike.

State Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil told reporters here on Thursday that security of the RSS premises was beefed up while RSS functionaries were also informed then about the possible attack.

He said the decision of the government to set up an Anti-Terrorism Squad office at Nagpur was taken in the wake of the reports about terrorist activities there.

The Deputy Chief Minister also announced a reward of Rs ten lakh on behalf of the Maharashtra government to Nagpur police for foiling the terrorists attempt to attack RSS headquarters.

Patil informed that the Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to Nagpur Police for their job.

The Deputy Chief Minister also said police have collected vital clues that link the Nanded blast held some months ago, with the Parbhani blast earlier this year. Patil said the possibility of Hindu extremist being responsible for the two blasts cannot be ruled out.
