Bollywood's star comedian will now be seen in Zee's 'Johny Ala Re'.

Bollywood's badshah of comedy is now coming to rule television. Ace comic Johny Lever will soon be seen in Zee's 'Johny Ala Re'. Hosted by TV actor Swetta Keswani, the show will include gags, skits and stand-up comic acts.

Johny says, "Television is serious business. It's a lot of hard work." Having completed almost 300 films Johny says that he is ready to rule the small-screen. "My show will be special. It will concentrate on spoofs related to topical issues. There'll be a team working with me and I hope to entertain  the audiences."

The actor reveals that he was approached by a television channel around 10 years ago but could not take it up because of his film commitments. He continues, "Cinema is a larger-than-life representation. I wish to bring it to the small-screen. I am tired of playing similar roles in films. I want a break from repetition. I will only consider challenging roles. Right now I want to concentrate only on TV."

Talking about the recent spate of comedy shows on television Johny says, "I'm glad there is finally a platform for comedians. But a sense of comic timing is inborn. What's even more important is consistency and an effort towards clean comedy. The need to reinvent and connect with the audience is what spells success."

Dismissing the tag of 'comedy king' Johny signs off by saying, "I will accept the tag the day Amitabh Bachchan admits that he is the superstar of Indian cinema."
