Shiksha, a P&G programme in association with CRY and Sony Entertainment Television entered its second year in leading children across India along the path of education. With Mandira Bedi, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Rahul Bose and former University Vice Chancellor, Dr Senehlata Deshmukh pledging their support, Shikha aims to raise funds for the programme through the sale of FMCGs.

The sale of large packs of select P&G brands during April, May and June, support Shiksha as the company has pledged a percentage of sales to the cause. Irrespective of sales, the company has already committed a minimum of one crore for education-focused projects.

With alarming statistics on the lack of funds for educating children, Shiksha brand ambassador Mandira Bedi stressed on how the common man could contribute through simple funding.

“The infrastructure in tribal lands should be improved and children should be freed from child labour and enrolled into schools instead,” said an emotional Mandira.

Rahul Bose also stressed the need for children’s education in the country saying that the future of India lies in a triangle that should work hand in hand - Corporate India, Government India and NGO India.
