Designer drags FDCI to court

Designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed is ready to appear in court today after having filed a suit against the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Ahmed says he’s agitated over not being allowed to participate in both fashion weeks — in Mumbai and Delhi.

He says he had paid up money for both shows and was ready to showcase entirely different collections at both events.

“I wanted to participate in both shows and it’s unfair to be blocked from doing so,” says Ahmed. His biggest regret is, “All this, at a time when we are just getting ready for the Lakme Fashion Week.”

However, the Mumbai-based designer has no regrets about his decision to go to court. And with support from some of his fellow designers, he hopes to be able to right the situation.
