Cipla to market its Tamiflu version in a week's time

The company would reportedly be releasing its version of Tamiflu in the retail market priced at Rs 1,000 per ten capsule across the country.

NEW DELHI: With reports of bird flu cases in Maharashtra being confirmed, leading pharmaceutical firm Cipla Ltd on Saturday said it would be releasing its version of Tamiflu in the Indian market in a week's time.

"We are ready with our product (Tamiflu) and would be releasing in the market in a week's time," Cipla Joint Managing Director Amar Lulla said.

He said the company would be releasing its version of Tamiflu in the retail market priced at Rs 1,000 per ten capsule across the country.

Asked if the company would be supplying to the government he said, "If it was willing to buy from us we would do so."

Lulla said the company has the capacity to produce one lakh treatments a week (one treatment requires ten capsules).

On the licensing issue, he said there were no probelms in India as "Roche has no patent for the product here".
