Pune to get 14 new domestic flights in a weeks time

Soon Pune will have better connectivity with rest of the country as Pune will be getting 14 new domestic flights. The new domestic will be operational post Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) project, which is likely to get over on April 16.
As on date Pune Lohegaon airport have 50 flights that are operational flights with the addition of 14 flights city will have 64 flights which will be operational round the clock. The Pune airport director Manoj Gangal refrain form giving information regarding the new destinations.
Gangal said,"In the summer schedule we will be adding 14 new domestic flights, the new flights will be operational post MAFI project. As the completion of MAFI project is nearing we are working on re scheduling of flights that were squeezed to 11 hours 30 minutes to 24 hours."
Gangal added,"We are working on getting clearance form Indian Air Force (IAF), headquarters, moreover we are also slotting the time with the other airports .Once we get the clearance from IAF we will be able to give the information about the 14 new destinations."
Gangal further added,"The upgradation of navigation aids and infrastructure under the MAFI project will improve the operation, as flights will be able to land and take off even if the visibility is low. That is why we have decided to add 14 new domestic flights."
President of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), S.K. Jain said,"Looking at the current trend Pune needs more flights for domestic and international destination. With the automated system in place there less time will be required to get clearance."
