Anti corruption Bureau arrests another doctor from Pune

Pune: The Anti corruption Bureau (ACB), Pune unit have arrested a doctor for accepting a bribe of Rs2,000 from a family of a pregnant woman as discharge charges despite she availing the state government’s free medical scheme. The incident took place at Chakan government hospital. The arrested doctor has been identified as Sanjay Vitkar who was deployed as Medical officer (Class two) at the said hospital. The incident came to light, when the complainant (name withheld for protection purpose) approached the ACB on Thursday.


Assistant commissioner of police (ACB) Sunil Shete, who led the trap said, “ On Thursday, the complainant approached us after which we verified the information and laid a trap. Dr Vitkar had asked him to get the amount near his quarters. Accordingly on Friday, around 1 pm, we laid a trap near his quarters which is adjacent to the hospital and caught him red handed while accepting the amount.”
