After Gautam Vora, the boyfriend of model Viveka Babajee who committed suicide at her suburban Bandra residence, her former boyfriend Karthik Jobanputtra is likely to seek anticipatory bail.

Jobanputtra, who was in a relationship with Babajee for a brief period between 2008 and mid-2009, fears that he would be arrested on charges of abetting the model's suicide and is likely to approach the sessions court for anticipatory bail.

The sessions court had yesterday granted relief to Vora, a stock analyst, by directing the police not to arrest him without giving him 72 hours' notice.

Vora had on Monday approached the court seeking anticipatory bail.

Babajee (37) had on June 25 committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her residence in Continental Towers in suburban Bandra.

"Karthik has not had any contact with Viveka since the last seven to eight months. Just because he was in a relationship with her in the past, police cannot question him," Karthik's lawyer Laxman Kanal said.

"There were so many persons who knew Viveka personally. Will the police question all of them? There is no direct or indirect link of Viveka and Karthik in the recent past," he said.

According to the police, Babajee and Jobanputtra had floated an event management company when they were together but later differences cropped up between them.
