Two women doctors arrested for killing rape victim's newborn

Two women doctors of a private hospital have been arrested for allegedly killing the newborn child of a minor rape victim here in Raigad district, police said today.
       
Pramodini Paranjpe and Usha Bakare-Malgaonkar, arrested yesterday, were produced before the Judicial Magistrate at Pen and sent in police custody till December 7.
       
The girl had become pregnant after being raped about seven months ago, and was admitted to the hospital in Pen taluka where she delivered a premature baby a few days ago, they said.
       
The child was dumped into the bio gas tank of the hospital on December 2, police said.
       
The incident came to light after the girl lodged a police complaint.
       
The doctors have been booked for murder and kidnapping among other charges, they added.
