Two friends from Pune get life sentence for murder

The court awarded life imprisonment to Shabbir Shamsuddin Shaikh and Javed Rizwan Shaikh of Kondhwa for beheading one person over enmity.

The court of additional sessions judge VK Shewale awarded life imprisonment to Shabbir Shamsuddin Shaikh (36) and Javed Rizwan Shaikh (27) of Kondhwa for beheading one person over enmity.

On December 18, 2007, Shabbir and Shamsuddin, along with their friends Abdul Gani Khan (30) and Khalid Shamsuddin Shaikh who were later acquitted by the court in the case, murdered Sohail Shaikh (30) of Salisbury Park.

Sohail was driving home from Salunkhe Vihar in midnight after attending his friend’s marriage when Shabbir and Javed waylaid him and murdered him with weapons and beheaded his body.

According to the prosecution, the motive behind murder was old enmity as Sohail was acquitted in a murder case of Shabbir’s old friend.

On a tip-off, the Wanavdi police nabbed the four, with Shabbir carrying the blood-soaked weapon and Rizwan holding the head of the deceased.

Case filed against Delhi academy for duping youth
The Chinchwad police have filed a case of cheating against a Delhi-based air hostess training academy for duping a youth from Chinchwad to the tune of  Rs1.38 lakh. The youth did a course and when he went looking for a job, he realised the certificate was useless.

Mukesh Dilipkumar Khudnani (21) of Sai Enclaves, Vijaynagar in Kalewadi lodged a complaint with Chinchwad police station against the academy and 38 other members under Indian Penal Code, 1860.

Senior inspector PB Lokhande told DNA, “Khudnani has approached the court as he had filed a private complainant in the court and we have registered the case. Khudnani had taken admission in Frankqueen Airhostess Training Academy in Chinchwad in May 2009 for a one-year course. Prior to joining the course, the academy had assured them that their academy letterhead will help them to get a job. The academy, after the completion of course, neither provided a certificate nor a job.’’

Man held with brown sugar
The Faraskhana police on Tuesday arrested a 51-year-old man for his alleged involvement in possessing brown sugar worth Rs2.07 lakh.

The man has been identified as Shivaji Nana Jadhav of Doke Talim in Nana Peth.

The police had received a tip-off about Jadhav possessing brown sugar and selling it in loose form on a footpath near Alpana talkies.

When the police nabbed Jadhav, they recovered 138 gram brown sugar from him.

During the interrogation, Jadhav told the police that he procured brown sugar from Mohammada Shaikh of Masjid Bandar in Mumbai. Jadhav has been a suspect in several cases registered at Samarth police station in the past.

After being produced before the judicial magistrate first class, SN Deore, Jadhav was remanded in police custody till February 27.
