Two persons, including a taxi driver, sustained grievous injuries when an unidentified tempo driver rammed his vehicle into the cab in Dadar (West) early on Monday morning. Vishnu Karan (28) and Rajendra Gupta (34), the taxi driver, were rushed to KEM hospital, where they are recuperating.

In the incident that took place at the Dadar flower market around 5.45am, Gupta was driving his taxi when the speeding tempo hit his vehicle from behind. The impact of the collision led Gupta to lose control and crash the cab into the divider. The hit by the  speeding tempo caused it to go beyond the divider and ram into a pedestrian, Karan, who sustained multiple fractures in both legs, said the police.

While Gupta, too, sustained injuries, on his head and the abdomen, the unidentified tempo driver fled the spot without helping the injured or informing the police. The Dadar police have registered a case of “causing injuries due to rash and negligent driving against the unidentified tempo driver. “We are trying to find out if any local managed to note down the tempo’s registration number,” said an officer of the Dadar police.
