Secure seat in B-school in pre-final year

Now you can secure a seat in the postgraduate programme of the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, even while you are in your pre-final year.

Promising students will have the liberty to work for two years and then join the institute for the management programme and will also be mentored on the job. It is the first college in the country to follow this international trend.

VK Menon, senior director, careers, admissions and financial aid, ISB, said, “We are planning to target top 100 institutes in the country. From Mumbai, we are planning to target a cross section of colleges. We plan to have 50-100 students in the first year of the programme, which would begin in 2014.”

The institute plans to rope in talent from the Indian Institute of Technology, VJTI, and Ruia, Ruparel and Podar colleges among others for their Young Talent Programme.

“The students will also get individual mentors from the institute. They will be able to access our libraries, faculty’s help, coaching from the institute, etc. The institute will get to hone the talent picked from the best colleges,” he added.

Students from leading institutes will not be tested on their academic skills alone. “We will also look at how they are able to present themselves. The students are expected to submit a 90-second video essay in which they can express themselves in the best possible way,” said the director.
