Pune CBI-ACB’s quest for homes continues

The Central Bureau of Investigation’s anti-corruption bureau (CBI-ACB) quest for its own office might end soon, with the revenue department starting the necessary formalities to hand it over.  

However, the demand for the land for residential quarters for the staff is pending, with the revenue department citing “lack of government land” in the city as the reason.  

On October 10, DNA had reported (‘CBI-ACB’s struggle for office continues’) how the agency’s demand for land  had met with a lukewarm response from the revenue department.  

Vidya Kulkarni, superintendent of the CBI-ACB, had identified two tentative sites in Yerawada (Survey Numbers 141/1 and 95-2A) and asked the district collector to hand over either of these in March.  

The land on Survey Number 141/1 was tied in litigation, while the land on Survey Number 95-2A was free-hold.  

The revenue department had asked the Pune Municipal Corporation to verify the zoning of the land. The report submitted by the civic body suggested that although offices could be constructed on this land, no residential construction could be allowed.  

This report has been forwarded to the divisional commissioner of Pune, Dilip Band, for land acquisition.
