Pimpri Chinchwad civic body opens 24x7 flood control cell

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has opened its flood control cell at its head office to provide 24-hour service to citizens to tackle flood-like situation in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Three rivers — Pavana, Mula and Indrayani — flow through this area and a sizeable population resides on the banks of these rivers.

PCMC additional commissioner Prakash Kadam said the fire department has given special instructions to be on the alert.
The civic body has kept ready 14 small boats at different ghats near Chinchwad-based Morya Gosavi Temple, Subhashnagar, Kalewadi and Kasarwadi ghats.

It has set up ward-wise flood control rooms for quick help and has also set up chief flood control rood at the PCMC head office in Pimpri.

The civic chief has instructed ward officials to report to the head office and to stay in touch with irrigation department officials. Instructions have also been given to ward offices to maintain a daily report of water levels in the rivers.
