Muslim scholar Maulana Mukhtar Ahmed Nadvi passes away

Eminent Muslim scholar and Vice President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Mukhtar Ahmed Nadvi, passed away last night at a private hospital following a prolonged illness.

MUMBAI: Eminent Muslim scholar and Vice President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Mukhtar Ahmed Nadvi, passed away last night at a private hospital following a prolonged illness.

His was buried at the Muslim Qabristan in Juhu on Monday, a family member said.

The 70-year-old scholar was also the chief of the Ahle-hadees sect of the Muslim community, and a member of the Rabta-e-Aalm, an internationally acclaimed apex body of the Muslim scholars.

A good orator, he had a deep understanding of the Islam, and was attached with several Muslim educational institutes in Mahrashtra, UP and Bangalore.

Maulana Mukhtar Nadvi also edited an Islamic monthly magazine, Al-Bilal, from Mumbai.
