The Mumbai University has appointed a five-member work audit committee to look into students’ grievances against the varsity’s examination system.

The committee is expected to submit a report within three months about how to improve the system. Dr Siddheshwar Gadade, principal of CK Thakur College and university’s senate member, is its chairman. Other members are Madhu Paranjape, Dilip Karande, Vasant Chowdhary, and Deepak Vasave.

“Our focus is on the examination system,” said Karande, also a senate member. “Some students do not get hall tickets on time, and there is always a delay in declaring results. The committee will look into reducing the problems students face.” He said that half the administrative problems would be solved once the university appoints a full-time registrar.

He added that some departments in the university have a staff shortage, which is leading to such problems. “There needs to be a manual for the working of each department,” he said.

Gadade said: “The basic aim of the committee will be to visit all university departments and find out their problems and requirements. We will look into all these aspects and submit a report within three months.”

There are more than 6 lakh students studying in the university, which has around 50 departments.
