Instead of taking state government by the horns regarding its slow approval procedure, the city developers have decided to resolve the issue amicably by calling off a scheduled flash strike on May 3 to protest against the government’s slow approval procedure.

According to a senior government officials, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has scheduled a meeting with over 150 developers at Sahyadri Guest house on Tuesday.

"CM has ensured the smooth and fast project approval procedure. We are going to present all our problems which has affected construction industry negatively. The slow approval process has caused delays in housing projects. Because of government's faulty procedure the buyers are losing money and not getting possession of their flats on time. We hope, the meeting with chief minister will be fruitful," said the developer who is a part of the delegation.

Paras Gundecha, president of MCHI CREDAI was not available for comment.

"Earlier we had planned one day token strike where all those who are connected to the construction industry had decided to participate. But the architect organisation backed out from the strike. So, instead of seeing the strike crumbling down before our eyes, we chose to call it off,” said another developer.

Since the beginning, developers were confused about the strike. "It was the first strike against the government in several years. we were successfully doing business with the help and coordination of the government,” said developer.

"And, suddenly changing the stand and going against the government was not easy decision. We cannot do business going against the authority. We need a healthy atmosphere, not hostile one that can cause huge financial losses," said another prominent developer.
