Maharashtra deputy chief minister, Chhagan Bhujbal today announced that the Mantralaya building would be excluded from the Mantralaya makeover project.

Replying to the debate on the budgetary demands of the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Legislative Assembly, Bhujbal said he would submit a fresh proposal to the cabinet sub-committee on Infrastructure soon.

"Fresh tenders would be called for. The new proposal would include ministerial bungalows, residences of IAS officers and Judges, new administrative building, Vidhan Bhavan, MLA hostel, State government guest house, underground parking and auditorium," Bhujbal said.

The re-development of Mantralaya building, the seat of the state government would be done by making separate  budgetary provisions, the deputy chief minister informed.

Lamenting that the ambitious project of his PWD department got mired in controversy, Bhujbal said there has been no violation of rules.

Bhujbal said the new centrally air conditioned Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi will be completed in another four to five months.

Bhujbal said the decision to hand over the construction of roads to district planning development committees (DPDCs) was taken last year for expediting road construction proposals.

He said since many members have opposed the move, he would convey the sentiments of the House to the cabinet.

He said if the roads are not found in good condition despite toll money being recovered from commuters, the concerned contractors would be held responsible and the losses would be recovered from them.

He said there are 275 villages which still do not have road connectivity.

He said his department has decided to construct one all-weather road in hamlets with population of 100.
