Management still a preferred career, 2.05 lakh register for CAT 2011

The CAT 2011 registration window ended at midnight on October 4 with approximately 2.05 lakh registered CAT aspirants.
 
According to information provided by Prometric, of these, 73% are male and 27% are female candidates. There is marginal hike in the registrations that saw 2.04 lakh aspirants last year.
 
Indian Institutes of Management on Thursday, announced the preliminary registration data for the Common Admission Test 2011 (CAT 2011). The CAT 2011 voucher sales ended on October 1. About 2.06 lakh vouchers were sold.
 
According to information provided by Prometric, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune are the cities in which the highest numbers of candidates will be giving the test. Prometric, in few more weeks, will reconcile the registration data to produce final report. The final report will include actual numbers and demographic breakdown of candidates.
 
Professor Janakiraman Moorthy, Convenor of CAT 2011, mentioned that registration process ended smoothly. He said, "The marginal increase in the number of registrations this year is a sign that management is still a sought after career choice by young Indians. Prometric has managed the capacity well to ensure candidates get their preferred locations where possible.”
 
Soumitra Roy, Managing Director, Prometric India, said, "Our global experience of providing self-service, online registration and scheduling capabilities, coupled with our capacity planning expertise, have allowed us to manage such a large number of registrations within a fixed window smoothly.”

He continued, "Candidates should familiarize themselves with the test day procedures by viewing the video that is available on the CAT website. Candidates should take care that they bring the right documents, and show up punctually on the right day, at the right location.”
