With the highest domestic salary of Rs24 lakh, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) has completed 100% placements.

The final placement report by JBIMS shows an increased interest among B-school graduates to join emerging sectors such as e-commerce, s-commerce and renewable energy with 5% recruitment recorded in these sectors at the institute this year.

“Every year before placements start, students are introduced to different sectors so that they make informed choices. Final placements are not like the summer internships, where certain experience and pay package influences the decision. Students’ interest in these new sectors has contributed in bringing these recruiters to campus,” said CR Chavan, placement coordinator at JBIMS.

“Also, with the volatile condition of the economy, it was a clear anticipation that placements will be affected. The regular recruiters had given their feedback that they will be hiring less number of students this year considering the economic conditions. Attracting more companies was the objective then to have another successful placement season.”

All 118 participating students have been placed satisfactorily, said the placement committee.

While the average domestic salary is Rs14.9lakh, the highest is Rs24 lakh. The placement committee refused to reveal which firm offered the highest package.

This year, 86 recruiters, of which 22 were new firms, came to the campus. Bloomberg and Jumbo Electronics were the international recruiters on the campus who did give a few offers.
While maximum placement (36%) was in the BFSI and IB sector, FMCG and pharma sector followed it with 25% placements.
